What is Ask a Pediatrician?
Each week, one of the pediatricians who practice at Clarian Health will answer a child care question sent to us by parents. The question and answer will be posted within our Clarian netNursery site for your viewing. Questions are encouraged for the age ranges of zero to five years.

This week's question:
Should you use soap the first few baths?
There should be no problem with a moisturizer soap such as Dove or any of the special
infant soaps such as the Johnson Baby Bar or Baby Magic. Avoid Ivory soap because it is
very drying. Sponge bathing is recommended until the cord falls off. Do not use soap on
the inner part of a baby girls genitalia.
